Transporting Dachshunds or equipment for the charity is another vital role of volunteers.

Sometimes we need help moving a Dachshund from its existing home to a new home. Dogs must be transported securely and we ask that a crate is used for this purpose and the dog must not be taken out of the crate during the journey. Sometimes the dog will take a crate to its new home but if not it is helpful if the volunteer has a crate they can use. If you do not have a crate we are usually able to provide one.

Volunteers must hold a full driving licence and insurance. Experience of nervous dogs and some behavioural issues is helpful although not essential as we rehome dogs for all sorts of reasons not just behavioural issues.

Good communication skills and an ability to cope in emotional situations is necessary for the role.
