Thinking about rehoming your Dachshund?

Why owners rehome a Dachshund

Every year, loving owners contact us seeking help with rehoming their Dachshund. Life can change in ways we don’t expect illness, family changes, housing issues, or the dog’s needs simply becoming too complex. Making the decision to give up your Dachshund is never easy, and we’re here to ensure you’re not facing that situation alone.

Support if you’re unsure about giving up your dog

If you’re uncertain, and your decision is based on things like behaviour problems or anxiety, we may be able to help you keep your dog at home. Suloti can point you toward advice, training, and resources that may help. While we do offer full Dachshund rehoming support, our first aim is always to help you and your companion stay together when possible.

How Suloti helps you rehome your Dachshund in the UK

Our rehoming process

If you decide to move forward, we will guide you through the entire Dachshund rehoming process. We carefully learn about your dog’s personality, needs, and quirks, and use that to find a home that matches their temperament. We also take the new family’s experience, setup, and lifestyle into account. Our screening process is designed to be thorough and meticulous to ensure that the best possible home is found for your beloved pet.

The process prioritises the safety, stability, and happiness of your dog above all else.

Why we prefer your Dachshund stays at home during rehoming

Wherever possible, we ask that your dog remains in your care until a new home is found. This avoids unnecessary moves and helps your Dachshund adjust more easily to their new family. Our aim is always for a direct adoption without needing a temporary arrangement, as this ensures greater emotional stability for the dog. Every dog is different but most Dachshunds adapt to their new permanent home within a reasonable length of time.

Ongoing support and updates from the new family

Once your dog has made the transition to their new home, we stay in touch with the adopters to ensure everything is going smoothly. If you would like to receive updates and photos, we are happy to share them. Many owners find comfort in seeing how well their dog has settled into a new life.

Your peace of mind is just as important as your dog’s happiness.

Real Dachshund rehoming stories from Suloti

We are pleased to be able to share these short stories written by people who sadly found themselves in the position of needing to rehome a dachshund.

Liz's Dachshund rehoming experience

I have recently reluctantly had to find a new home for my boy. His wellbeing was top priority and I was nervous to even take the first step and make enquiries.

However, I was incredibly lucky in finding Suloti Dachshund Support. From the moment Suloti answered my first call I felt confident that they were genuine and caring.

The questions they asked were so detailed and comprehensive I was reassured they would find the right home for my dog’s personality. I was lucky not to have to wait long for a suitable family to be found.

The charity was so patient with my concerns and questions and were never judgemental of my decision. They totally understood what a hard thing it is to do and were both sympathetic and reassuring.

I can only say that Suloti’s professionalism and kindness are second to none and they made the whole process of rehoming as good as such a sad situation could be.

Thank you.
Liz

Jill's Dachshund rehoming experience

Being placed into a situation of having to re-home my furry companion. It was such a traumatic experience that I could only recommend Suloti Dachshund Support.

From our first initial conversation (mostly myself in tears) the empathy and compassion was at the highest calibre. No judgement, just support and guidance. Clarity was given to the most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make, their calm and welcoming voice at the end of the phone.

My support, rehome worker was always around to talk to, whilst a new doggy home was being found, this took time but not too much time as it has to be right.

My fur baby now has a new doggy mummy . She is so happy, I have received lots of up dates, these include videos and photos. The evidence cannot lie.

The Charity Suloti Dachshund Support. Went above and beyond not just for my dog but for myself also.
